>> THE SCENE: @ A NYC CAFÉ (Yes, I order wine at a café)
Hi Lady,
Welcome to The Search Scene newsletter!
As I currently sip on a glass of wine (happy hour rules have changed), I want to start by saying Cheers to YOU. I’m excited to help you search for work and/or love…while also having fun in the process.
WORK <> LOVE
Let’s break it down.
>>WORK: The average person spends roughly 33% of their lives at work – that’s about 13 years and 2 months (~90,000 hours). That’s a hell of a lot of time spent. Why do we work? Many reasons, with some being; to be empowered, to be independent, to feel accomplished, to pay bills/debt, to save for a specific lifestyle, to live with purpose, to build for a better future, and so much more, or all of the above. It makes sense then to spend time finding the right job/career to invest in — and one that fulfills us.
>>LOVE: When I try to find statistics about love, it’s more difficult because there are so many different types of relationships, definitions of love, and so on. However, in the last year, the average American spent ~$700 on dates, with the average couple taking ~4.9 years dating before marriage. Swiping is a sport, dating is exhausting and expensive (we have to look our best), and with work being top-of-mind, how do we find love? After all, it is a big life investment too…just like work.
We spend a LOT of time and resources at work, in love, and/or both…and they have a lot in common. The search can be super daunting – so this newsletter is here to help you find what you’re looking for, while also staying true to yourself.
